Special Note from Author Kate Threat

Hello friends and community members! I wanted to share a special message from author Kate Threat, whose poetry chapbook, Anatomy of My Mixed Body, is coming out in 16 days! Here’s what Kate wanted to tell you:

“Hello patreon members! I wanted to share a fun fact with you, but I couldn’t decide on just one. Instead I’ll share a few, to thank you for supporting local independent publishing! The earliest poem I can remember reading is “The Owl and the Pussy-Cat” by Edward Lear. My favorite ice cream is cookies and cream, and my favorite dessert is chocolate cake. I prefer the texture of baked blueberries to raw ones. I adore thunderstorms. The newest poem in my chapbook is titled “worship in a honda accord.” I have been working on Anatomy of My Mixed Body for about four years, and, consequently, four is my favorite number.” – Kate Threat

I would also like to invite you all to Kate’s book launch at King’s Books on September 16th, at 6PM. We’ll hear poems from Kate and guest poet, Asha Berkes, a few words from Write253 Director Michael Haeflinger, and a short speech from me, Christina Vega, about Kate’s impact on the press. There will be light refreshments at the event, as well as  chance to peek behind the veil and see early production content for the book, like proofs, cover samples, and paper samples. I hope to see you there!

**Lastly, if you’re a “Star Cactus” or higher, your book will be shipped out a few days before the launch. If you’d prefer to pick it up at the launch event, please just email me, Christina, at bluecactuspress@gmail.com to let me know! – Christina
