Remann Hall Book Club Donation

Blue Cactus Press is now working with Write253 to purchase and donate books for detained youth at Remann Hall Juvenile Detention in Tacoma. These efforts are an extension of Write253’s ongoing program, Remann Hall Book Club, which not only provides books to young people detained at the Remann Hall Juvenile Detention facility, but offers book discussions and creative engagement opportunities, as well. 

Youth detained in this facility are often held for months, if not years, and have extremely limited access to reading material. Additionally, these youth are also often avid readers and writers. And as we all know, it’s crucial to keep young people’s minds engaged through reading. This facilitates growth and expansion, and offers a recreational reprieve while held in detention facilities, which tend to offer little-to-no other opportunities for such otherwise.

So, we’re doing our part to help these youth access books by making and collecting donations to purchase books that youth at Remann Hall have specifically requested. You can donate as little or as much as you want. All support is appreciated and will be used to purchase books for Remann Hall.
