About the Book

Red Constellations: An Educators’ Handbook for Refusing Settler Logics is a handbook that was created by Red Bird Camp Collective, a collective of Native educators who have worked, collectively, with Native students from kindergarten to PhD-level, in public, private, and tribal school settings. As Native educators, Red Bird Camp Collective has grappled, and continue to grapple, with their respective roles and identities within Western education systems. This document hopes to reflect many of the current and historical realities that surround and shape the work they do, as well as their personal and collective questioning, problem-posing, and future-building aimed at defending strong, vibrant, and resurgent tribal nations and communities.

Red Bird Camp Collective hopes this text can be a tool for reflection and for generating critical dialogues that, ultimately, lead to strategies and actions for challenging settler colonialism within our learning spaces. 60% of the proceeds from the sale of this Zine will go directly back to Red Bird Camp Collective. About Red Bird Camp Collective

Red Bird Camp Collective is a Native-led collective of educators and students based in the Pacific Northwest, driven by a mission to work beyond the limitations of Western education. Their journey began with a commitment to establish an alternative space for critical thought, creativity, and actionable change. Currently, their initiatives are centered around three key areas: building community between Native students and educators, supporting local land restoration and food sovereignty, and advancing small-scale mutual aid projects.
